At the time of the Emperor Le Hy Tong (1), the Qing dynasty sent a letter requesting us to shave the forehead and plat the hair after the Manchus had ended the Ming dynasty and forced the Han chineses to follow their customs. Worriedly, the Emperor of the Great Viet sent Dr. Nguyen Dang Cao to deny changing the customs. Nguyen Dang Cao came to the Qing dynasty, submitted a petition about the habits. Kangxi Emperor admired Dr Nguyen, appreciated his talent and abrogated the last demand.
